Apparently this has taught Toys R Us nothing since they are still advertising a free gift card with purchase and then reducing the amount of the item by the gift card amount and then charging the customer for the gift card. The gift card is then non returnable and you can only return the original item for the price minus the “free gift card”.
In addition, THERE ARE NO SIGNS OR OTHER INFO STATING THIS ANY WHERE NEAR the items being sold or the registers. I fell for this scam. Bought a video game with a “free $10 Gift Card” offer and did not know about this. Did not pay attention on the receipt since I only bought the game and the price came out correctly. It was not until later that I found out online that this was the way Toys R Us operates. Disgusting!
