Settlement checks in the West Virginia Water Contamination Class Action Lawsuit are expected to mailed on Sept. 14, 2018.
The checks will ultimately be slightly less than expected because of the high volume of people who submitted claims. Residents will receive $482; additional residents will receive $157, and businesses will receive $1645.
On Sept. 6, 2018 the VW Water Claims settlement administrator asked U.S. District Judge John Copenhaver for permission to distribute checks.
It is expected that $73 million worth of checks will be mailed to over 200,000 residents and businesses affected by the 2014 chemical spill.
The next batch of West Virginia Water Contamination Settlement Checks (which includes claims from government entities and people who lost wages) will not be sent out for several months after the initial batch.
